To visit Antarctica is my ultimate bucket list trip! Why? Because I am pretty passionate about our environment and this world we live in. Nature is truly magical but unfortunately, in many places, we humans have taken some of that magic away. However, Antarctica is one place on earth that is very close to untouched. To experience a place so pristine and just how nature intended has to be one of the most amazing life experiences ever.
SO HOW CAN WE GET TO ANTARCTICA?
I recently entered a voting competition run by Chimu Adventures. For 15 years they have been taking travellers on amazing experiences and to celebrate they are giving away a trip for two to Antarctica. How exciting is that! Their motto is to ‘Live for Today’ and when I saw this motto and Antartica in the same message I knew straight away it was talking to me. I have been thinking long and hard about who I might take if I was fortunate enough to win. I am a solo traveller, so I don’t have an obvious travel companion to share this adventure with. To choose just one friend or family member would be extremely difficult! So I have decided that if I was fortunate enough to win I would take one of my wonderful YOLO SOLO followers.

I have always felt a little torn about going to Antartica, for the environmental impact it might have. After all, it is because of us humans that many places are no longer in such a pristine condition. But if there is one thing I have learned about experiencing special places, it is that you fall in love with them and want to care for them even more. I have looked at sustainable practices of Chimu Adventures and their passion for social and environmental responsibility sits very well with me.
